This week I have been hanging out at Edisto Beach and getting lots of ideas for my new classroom! Thanks to a post on my last blog from Jennifer I'm thinking about making windows to hang in my room. I would like to have a beach theme inside my room, but I am still debating it. I think that putting pictures of my students in the windows would give it a "homey" feel and make the kiddos feel special. Please keep the suggestions coming! Having a blank slate to work with is great to start over, but hard to get ideas flowing.
I like your idea of a beach theme. You can get inspired during your beach trips. :) You can get some buckets and shovels and use those to hold student supplies this year or to decorate your room with. Beach balls would also be cute hanging from the ceiling if you allowed to hang things. You could name your student groups with types of beach creatures (dolphins, seastar, seagull, etc.) Have fun with it! If I think of any great theme ideas I'll let you know.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of beach theme in the classroom is really good and can be added to as the year moves on. You could decorate with star fish in the reading area - to portray "star readers" and fish - to "swim into math" and maybe jellyfish for "tangled in English" just a couple of ideas???
ReplyDeleteGood start - I live off the Inter-Coastal waters and on the Combahee River - so ideas could just come randomly - you still have crabs, shore birds and oh pelians - "scoup or dive into" a subject. "lots of potential here" :)
oops - sorry for the typo I meant to type pelicans --- got a little ahead of myself.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, good job on the theme .... 2-thumbs up from me.
